Another milestone in quality management
maxon motor’s dental technology division is awarded ISO 13485 certification
The maxon motor Group is expanding its quality management system. On 5 June 2007, the dental technology division which is responsible for developing and producing ceramic implants, was awarded ISO 13485:2003 certification.
This medical quality standard was designed specifically for companies producing medical products or components for the medical technology industry. Its primary aim is to ensure that the documentation process, including the traceability of resources and production parameters, is implemented smoothly.
First stage completed: medical standard successfully introduced in dental business
This year maxon motor has been drawing on its 15 years’ experience of developing and producing high-performance ceramics by producing zirconium oxide
ceramic implants for the dental sector. Its special feature is a particularly rough surface structure which means that maxon’s dental implants actually heal. Furthermore, thanks to
CIM technology (Ceramic Injection Moulding), ceramic shapes can be made in one production stage with the utmost precision, saving on the cost of titanium implants and ensuring that the price level of ceramic material equals out over the long term. maxon motor is thus committed to ensuring that ceramic implants will be accessible to a broader range of patients in future, i.e. to more people.
ISO 13485:2003 certification of the dental division highlights the high quality profile of maxon as a
worldwide active company. A risk management system was set up for product developments under the new standard, ensuring through close collaboration with partners in the dental sector that maxon ceramic implants satisfy the requirements of the medical market as well as current regulations. This ultimately benefits patients, giving them reliable and secure dental implants.
Second stage in progress: ISO 13485 certification for maxon medical in preparation
The maxon motor Group is continually expanding its quality management system, including the
drive business for medical equipment. The company is using the experience gained during the ISO 13485 implementation process in the dental segment to make the best possible preparations in its maxon medical business area for the forthcoming ISO 13485 certification. maxon medical produces innovative
micro drives and gears every product towards medical technology’s high quality and service requirements.
